traveled to: connecticut

My whole life I’ve wanted to get to the west coast. West coast best coast right? Well, life has a funny way of throwing you a complete curveball sometimes – I love New England.

My best friend moved from Pennsylvania to Connecticut when we were in seventh grade, and since then I’ve been visiting up there every year. After I got my license I started to visit more often and I made a few close friends in that neck of the woods. Eventually, I fell in love with a Connecticut boy and now this August I’m due to move up to the Constitution State. So weird. I always thought if I moved anywhere in my 20’s it would be California, Hawaii, Arizona, Florida, or anywhere I’m able to wear summer clothes year round, but I’m going to be trading in my crop tops for a parka.

This is a win-lose situation in my eyes. As much as I love the sun, I love Tony a heck of a lot more and I’m going to have so many opportunities at my new college in New Haven.

Apart from my little life story, I went up to Connecticut this past week and snapped a couple photos to share here. I can’t wait for what life has in store for me.

Ocean Beach, New London CT. I’ve never been here during beach season but the off season is still great. New England beaches are so cute and charming.

Mystic, CT. Home of the famous Mystic pizza (where Tony and I split a pie). I must say, it’s one of the top places for pizza in my opinion. Plus, the town of Mystic is super cute and they have docks right down from the pizza place that Tony and I sat on.

How cute is this little to go hummus package?! I found it when at a gas station when I was driving through New York on the way home. It made my trip so much better.

the rory gilmore reading challenge

I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls for the past couple of months on Netflix, and I’m currently on the last season. I feel like I’m going through a breakup. What am I going to do without more Gilmore Girls episodes to watch?! Well, I’ve found a way to hold on to my beloved Gilmore Girls obsession with the “Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge.” I came across this quite awhile ago on Pinterest and just happened to re-find it yesterday while searching up books to buy at Barnes and Noble. Thank you to the generous people of for compiling a wonderful list of books mentioned throughout the show. I look forward to knocking these books off the list and expanding my bookshelf tremendously.

On January 14 I was able to take a yoga class from Rachel Brathen (aka @yoga_girl on Instagram). If anyone out there is a fellow yogi and does not follow her, go do it. She is my biggest yoga/life inspiration. This practice, with 300+ other people, was a life changing experience. We all breathed together, laughed together, and cried in savasana together. Being in a room with hundreds of people who are all such positive beings takes an emotional toll on you, but a good emotional toll. Thank you, Rachel for shaping me into the person I am today and guiding me to the one thing I know I am supposed to do in life: yoga. I will continue to pass on this beautiful practice.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
